Message from the President: An Evening with Gustavo Santaolalla
On behalf of Aveni Foundation and our Board of Directors, I would like to thank all who attended Aveni Foundation’s private event, “An Evening with Gustavo Santaolalla,” and who contributed their talents and resources in celebration, in tribute, and in support of our mission: Broadly, to expedite the development of gene-targeted technologies for cancer and Parkinson’s disease, and specifically, to resurrect DeltaRex-G for the benefit of cancer patients worldwide. Special acknowledgment must be extended to Gustavo and his gifted team of musicians and engineers for a unique and memorable performance; to Dr. Sant and Kusum Chawla for welcoming us to their beautiful Beverly Hills home and providing delicious Indian cuisine; and to our Emcees Sara Welch and Honorable Marc Aveni for setting such an engaging tone for the evening. SAVE THE DATE: Gustavo Santaolalla Performs a Unique Solo Presentation for Aveni Foundation
SAVE THE DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 2023 Beverly Hills, California
Gustavo Santaolalla, is recognized as one of the most highly acclaimed and prolific contemporary Argentine musicians in the world. Santaolalla has produced more than 100 albums by some of Latin-America’s most relevant alternative musicians, including Café Tacvba, Julieta Venegas, Bajofondo, Los Tigres del Norte and Juanes and has won 2 Grammys and 19 Latin Grammys. He has composed film scores for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful, Walter Salles’ Motorcycle Diaries and On the Road, and Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain, for which he received his first Oscar for Best Original Score and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, “A Love That Will Never Grow Old” co-written with Bernie Taupin. The following year, Santaolalla received his second Oscar for Best Original Score for Babel. Santaolalla also created the music for Sony Playstation and Neil Druckmann’s multi-award winning The Last of Us and most recently scored the HBO series based on the beloved videogame.

On behalf of Aveni Foundation, I would like to thank all who contributed their talents and resources this past week; in celebration, in tribute, and in support of our mission to provide effective alternatives to cancer patients. Special mention must be made to ABT Principals Stella Abrera & James Whiteside and the ABT Studio Company, whose moving performances uplifted and enriched us all; to Tina Finn and the Red Hill Country Club, who provided a stunning setting for a day of high-spirited sportsmanship; to YouTuber and LGPA Golf Pro Aimee Cho for lending her voice to spread awareness; and finally, to Hope and Nancy Stringer whose generous donation made it possible for us to manufacture sufficient DeltaRex-G to treat 20 cancer patients.
